Hot off the heels of her successful debut album, Alicia Keys takes her game to the next level with “You Don’t Know My Name”. Backed by a vintage soul sample and her signature tickling of the piano, this song about longing for someone that doesn’t know you exist always hits me right in the feels. It takes me back to a time when this was the story of my life. I feel like other songs in her catalogue such as “Fallin'” and “If I Ain’t Got You” may stand taller than this one, but “You Don’t Know My Name” for sentimental reasons is probably my favourite Alicia Keys track. Yes, even with the overdrawn telephone interlude towards the back half of the song.
